Building underwriting and claims workbenches for carriers, we kept meeting the same third desk: the ceded team, running the outwards programme on spreadsheets, bordereaux by email and a module bolted onto one of the two systems. A cession can be triggered by either a policy or a claim, so it belongs to neither. InsightCede is that desk’s own workbench.
Underwriting reports what was bound; claims reports what was reserved and paid. Neither can say what that means for the outwards programme — which treaty year, which layer, in what order, and who owes what.

No model ever computes a cession, a recoverable or a balance. The engine does, the same way every time, and the agents read what it committed.
Net premium, net incurred and the ceded loss ratio are derived in one place and read everywhere else. Cede never writes back into underwriting or claims.
A figure, a contact or a contract term comes from a committed row or a cited passage — or the field is left blank and named as missing.
The ledger lives on Postgres in the carrier’s own cloud account, secrets in its own secret store, models through its own provider account.
